1759 The Macerata Opera Festival 2015 season, “Feed the Soul", does more than nodding to Expo 2015’s main theme, food for the eath; it is a geniune tribute to presents both accomplished and rising stars, and conferms the venue’s ability to knit long term partnerships with the freshest singers, new directors and promising conductors worldwide. Rigoletto, Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci are the titles chosen by the historical venue for this year’s season, starting on July 17th till August 8th. The Arena Sferisterio’s stage will shine in the light of performers such as Italian sopranos Jessica Nuccio, Anna Pirozzi, Carmela Remigio, Spanish, Puerto Rican, Azerbaijani and Mexican tenors Celso Albelo, Rafael Davila, Yusif Eyazov and Arturo Chacón-Cruz, accompanied by the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana under the batons of Francesco Lanzillotta and Christopher Franklin, with the direction of Federico Grazzini, Alessandro Talevi and David Crescenzi.

Ludovico Einaudi’s live concert, In a time lapse, will close the season opening programme, Monday July 19th at 9 pm. After Patty Smith, in 2013, and Renzo Arbore last year, this year will be the turn of this much beloved Italian composer and pianist, back from his latest concerts at Olympia in Paris, Muenchen Philarmonie and more world class venues in Canada, Cina, USA (New York and San and Los Angeles). Fans should know that this will be a rare opportunity to listen to Einaudi in his homeland, during a three stages in Italy’s most exclusive and hip venues: Sferisterio, Terme di Caracalla in Roma and Verona’s Arena. “When you realise that your time on earth is limited, you beging to fill it with such more energy and start living it at the fullest again, just like a child" says Ludovico, presenting his latest cd recording, a work for piano, strings, percussions and electronics.

The Festival’s inaugural week end highlights include two special events in the Expo 2015 context: Un canto che s`udia per li sentieri... le Marche di Rossini e Leopardi, a tribute to Rossini and Leopardi, on Thursday May 28th at Expo’s Paviglione Italia (??? ). The show, written by Francesco Micheli and conducted by Alberto Zedda, is coproduced together with Rossini Opera Festival. On the following evening, all the same in Milano, a music-gourmet event of….at..

After Tenors Mario del Monaco (2012) and Beniamino Gigli (2013), and Soprano Anita Cerquetti (2014), this year’s Genius Loci gala concert will be devoted to the Bass Sesto Bruscantini. Born in Civita Nova Marche, the singer discovered by Beniamino Gigli and praised since then by generations of singers and opera lovers for his ability to hold the stage, testifies the region’s natural vocation for Opera.

Le Marche’s feeling for the operatic world and its audience is all the more evident in one of the season’s main attraction, dedicated to opera addicts as well as total newcomers, who can take the opportunity to dive in: The Night of the Opera, this year on… August.. th, is a unique event of the kind worldwide. Ispired by Rigoletto’s convivial scenes and music, this living theatre 12 hours show will transform the town of Macerata, its squares and “vicoli", in a permanet banquet. A feast for the hearing and tastes, the event designed by director Francesco Micheli with the support of the City of Macerata and the towns shops’ sponsorwhip attracts an everage of 50`000 persons each year.
